In the business world, corporate
strategy, product design, and financial decisions are
considered sensitive information.
Such
sensitive information usually has limited access and strong
security safeguards are put in place to protect it.
In
a meeting where sensitive information is discussed, a cell
phone / mobile phone can transmit the entire discussion over
the airwaves to an outsider.
The phone may be transmitting such information even
without the knowledge or intervention of the owner of the
phone.
In
the world of terrorism and industrial spying, cell phones /
mobile phones are integral tools of the perpetrator.
Sensitive Corporate Settings
Large corporate campuses have a need to protect their
sensitive information similar to governments.
As an example, the design of a new automobiles or the private strategy or
financial discussions of a public company.
Within the hospitality business, cell phone & mobile
phone disturbances in
meeting space will become a major distinguishing feature to high-end hotels and
conference facilities.

Terrorists
Terrorists are using Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) to
blow up targets around the world. The detonator of
choice for these IEDs is a cell phone. When the cell
phone rings it sets off the bomb.
The major terrorist bombs in Bali
were detonated by cell phones. The train bombings in
Madrid used cell phones.
Audio Bugs
With newer technology, many cell phone models can be easily
used as remote-controlled clandestine listening devices
("bugs"), often with little or no
modification. These can be set that way intentionally by
the phone's user - and unintentionally by someone other than
the phone's user! See our reference on this.
